This release features recordings of two live streams held without an audience during the COVID-19 pandemic: “We Still In The LAB,” held on June 17, 2020, at Shinjuku BLAZE, and “SKY-HI Round A Ground 2020 -RESTART-,” held on July 19, 2020, at Zepp.DISC 1: We Still In The LAB
June 17 was the date eight years ago when SKY-HI held his first solo concert【WELCOME TO THE "LAB"】. Originally, his first-ever best-of album, *SKY-HI’s THE BEST*, was scheduled for release on that date, but the release was postponed to September 23 due to the spread of the novel coronavirus.Although he had planned to share this “memorable day” with his fans, he turned the situation of performing without an audience to his advantage by transforming the floor into a stage to make the most of the space. He staged a live performance with a unique twist, featuring extensive camera work and making full use of the venue.
Guest performers included KEN THE 390 and TARO SOUL, who had also appeared at his first solo concert eight years ago.
DISC 2: SKY-HI Round A Ground 2020 -RESTART-
The nationwide tour “SKY-HI Round A Ground 2020,” originally scheduled for March and April of this year, was canceled due to the spread of COVID-19.Since then, he has livestreamed a live performance from a rehearsal studio (March 7),“#SKY-HI Home Solo Concert” (May 6), and the no-audience live show “We Still In The LAB” held at Shinjuku BLAZE in Tokyo (June 17). Through these efforts, SKY-HI has been exploring and implementing new approaches to live entertainment amid the COVID-19 pandemic.Featuring drums, guitar, and a DJ, that day’s “SKY-HI Round A Ground 2020 -RESTART-” incorporated visual effects unique to online streaming, created in collaboration withsuch as “2ndFunction,” “REALROCKDESIGN,” and “AVC,” who have unveiled various XR content at global events. The performance—which integrates real emotions with the music—embodies the theme of “a fusion of technology with human warmth.” *This
