"Playing the Orchestra 2013," held in May 2013, marked Ryuichi Sakamoto’s first performance with a full orchestra in Japan in 16 years.
We’ve selected the best tracks from these performances, which took place on May 7, 2013, at Festival Hall; May 9 at Suntory Hall (Main Hall); and May 10 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Concert Hall.
Featuring newly arranged orchestral versions of classic pieces ranging from film scores such as *Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence*, *The Last Emperor*, and *The Sheltering Sky* to YMO songs, this album allows listeners to fully immerse themselves in the diverse soundscapes created by Ryuichi Sakamoto’s piano and the full orchestra.
