A two-CD compilation album released in 2014.
The original motivation for its creation was simply to compile, on a whim, various tracks produced or remixed over the past decade.
Although the content is diverse—ranging from choral pieces and background music for films to music for installations, commercials, and television programs, as well as remixes of other artists’ songs—Sakamoto became increasingly enthusiastic as he made his selections, and the album effectively evolved into a musical yearbook of Ryuichi Sakamoto.It seems that Sakamoto
himself also drew new inspiration from these unearthed recordings; for instance, the chorale he played for “Chorale | Look For Me Here Ryuichi Sakamoto Remix” by the Australian duo Solo Underta—included here—would later evolve into “andata,” the opening track of *async* (2017).The album also comes with a booklet featuring a chronicle of his activities
each year and interviews in which Ryuichi Sakamoto himself discusses his compositions, and it has been decided that this *Year Book* will become a series.
