A world-renowned pianist and composer who has won two Grammy Awards (in the New Age category) in 2018 and 2020 and has released over 70 albums to date,Peter Kater is highly acclaimed for his musicality—characterized by a piano style that moves effortlessly between classical and pop, rich emotional expression, and a melodic sensibility that resonates deeply with listeners. He has achieved numerous chart placements on the U.S. Billboard New Age chart and has amassed over billions of streams.

His new album, “The Gift”—his first to be released in Japan—features compositions inspired by the beautiful natural landscapes and places steeped in history and mythology, such as Kyoto, Nara, Ise, Awaji Island, and Izumo, which he visited during his stay in Japan in November 2025.The track featuring the shakuhachi—his first-ever use of a traditional Japanese instrument—symbolizes the affection for Japan embedded in this album. As bonus tracks, the album includes a total of four songs: the title tracks from each of his two Grammy-winning albums, plus alternate versions of two songs that hold deep personal significance for him and have been well-received at his concerts. The album contains 12 tracks in total.
It should be noted that many of Peter Kater’s works, including this album, were recorded with the piano tuned to 432 Hz.
